The Tower of Pisa, Italy

The Leaning Tower of Pisa (Italian : Torre di Pisa or abbreviated Pendente Torre di Pisa) is a campanile or bell tower of the Cathedral in Pisa, Italy. Tower of Pisa is actually made to stand vertically like a bell tower in general, but began leaning shortly after construction started in August 1173. The tower is located behind the cathedral and is the third building of Campo dei Miracoli (Field of Rainbow) city of Pisa.

Finally I had chance to visit this place after many times I missed. From the Port of Livorno trips taken by train about 30 minutes to the City of Pisa. Once again a dream come true....hehehe

Colosseum, Rome, Italy

Coliseum is a historic relic of the Gladiator arena, built by Vespasian. A great venue called the elliptical amphitheatre or by his real name Flavian Amphitheatre, which is one of the Sixty-Nine Wonders Of the World from Middle Ages. The site is locaterd in the city of Rome, Italy. This site is one of the greatest works of the Roman Empire ever built. Coliseum is designed to accomodated 50.000 spectators. An amazing building. I have never dream before if I can visit this place...

Punta del Este, Uruguay

Ship where I was working also briefly stopped at Punta del Este, Uruguay. This place is one of the famous tourist destination in Latin America. Many tourists from Europe dubbed this place as St. Tropez of Latin America. This place is famous for its beautiful beaches and so many other tourist attractions. The population in this region use Spanish as their primary language. But there are also some of which use Spanish mixed with Portuguese.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The next attraction which I visited in Brazil is the Corcovado Cristo or Cristo Redentor. One of the seven wonders of the world a new form of sculptures of Jesus stretched out his hand. From the top where the statue stood we could see clearly almost all parts of the city of Rio de Janeiro. One of the proofs the greatness human beings in making something wonderful.

Christ the Redeemer (Portuguese: Cristo Redentor) is a statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, considered the Art Deco statue of the world's largest statue of Jesus Christ and the fifth largest in the world. The size of this statue is 39.6 meters (130 feet) tall, including 9.5 meters (31 feet) base, and 30 meters (98 feet) wide. It weighs 635 tonnes (625 long, 700 short tons), and is located 700 meters (2,300 feet) above sea level atop Corcovado mountain in Tijuca Forest National Park overlooking the city. A symbol of Christianity, the statue has become an icon of Rio and Brazil. The statue is made of reinforced concrete and Soapstone, and was built between 1922 and 1931.

The way to the top of Corcovado Cristo traveled about 30 minutes by train. Quite thrilling for the train running at around 10 km / hour. This is because the trip to climb. Not to mention that the train that is used already seems old.

Buzios, Brazil

When the winter has started in Europe around October to March the ship where I work turned routes to the Latin American regions. Precisely in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. We crossed the Atlantic Ocean for 15 days without passengers. At least rest a while before the start again in Brazil. There are few places in Brazil among the passengers embarkation port of Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Maceio and Vitoria. While in the Argentina is Buenos Aires.

There are several tourist attraction that can be enjoyed while in Brazil. One of them is in Buzios. A lot of tourist spot filled with luxury villas, restaurants and bars, as well as some night clubs and souvenir shops are scattered everywhere.

There is one more tourist attraction that had I frequent in France the islands of Corsica in Ajaccio.... an island where half belongs to French and half belongs to Italy .... This islands have their local hero, but I forgot his name...hehehe ....

There are several things that make working on the ship was exciting. One was the opportunity for a visit and look around some of the attractions in the country served by vessel in which we work. Although it somewhat rare opportunity and it took the sacrifice of time, but at least we can enjoy it. Working on a cruise ship does not have the day off 1 or 2 days as when we working on land. So when you want to get out the street we should be smart divide free time during recess in 1 business day.


When I first got free time for get out, place the first times I have visited was Villefranche, Nice, France. A major tourist attractions in the form of long beach with white sand.

Working on a cruise ship also means that you are ready to share a cabin with friends from the same country or even with friends from other countries. I once shared a room with friend from Indonesia, Honduras, Guatemala, Chile and even Brazil. Everything has its own characteristics and behavior. We should be able to adapt to them. Everything will be look different to life when we are working on land. Sometimes we get a roommate who is incompatible with us. If they can't adjust to our habits so we are forced to adjust their habits as long as not in against the existing rules on board.

Sometimes I find a roommate who likes to play music with a loud voice, there are also like to spend time in the crew bar after work while drinking alcoholic beverages so when return to the cabin in a drunken condition. This something become a dilemma. I would like to report the matter to security but feel sorry for them. If they get caught they may get warning or the worst is dismissal from the ship with disciplinary reasons. You must be patient when living on s ship...hehehe

There is one thing that can actually be said indiscipline from the crew and I think that happens in almost all cruise ships in the world which is a party in the crew cabin. This is a very prevalent. Some crew held a little party at the cabin to celebrate something or just simply gathering and chat with friends. Something like this actually not justified on the ship, but this has become a culture which cannot be removed while working on cruise ships.

Working on a cruise ship means we should prepared to interact with other crews from various nationalities, races, religions, and others. Here is the importance we have to master a foreign language. When interacting with other fellow crews mostly us the English Language. But the company that I live to work is a company based in Spain where more than half the crew on board are people from Latin countries such as Colombia, Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Chile, Argentina and Brazil. So interact with these people used to use Spanish because most of them do not mastered English language. Imagine with our people from Indonesia who’s only mastered English. Sometimes interacting with those Latin people si done by body language…hehehe

Most of the Indonesian people at the company where I worked for are not specifically studied Spanish. They are autodidact mastered that language. Learn directly from Latin people who can speak English. So learn and practice on the ground….cool, isn’t?

Likewise with me. When I first stepped on board I was surprised by the language used. But gradually because often hear Latin people talked finally able to understood a little of this language. Eventually I even fluently speak the Spanish language whereas learning just autodidact. So much so a fellow Indonesian colleagues was surprised to see I able to speak Spanish fluently. I myself was wondered why I could master the language so quickly.

Actually confused about where the story began. Working on a cruise ship is just work, eat, rest, work again, eat again and so on repeated every day until the contract expires. wuiihhh ... so tired ... also boring ...


Cruise ship where I worked had a route from Barcelona (Spain), Villefranche, Nice (France), Livorno (Italy, Civitavecchia, Rome (Italy), Napoli (Italy), La Goulette (Tunis) and a day at sea until arriving again at the Barcelona on Sunday .. so its route at the start of Barcelona until back in Barcelona with Spanish nationality of passengers, as I mentioned in the New Adventure.


Every day there is a chance to go out when the ship leaned on the ports. Even just an hour or two hours, which is important to come out for refreshing or everyday shopping needs, or even shopping for souvenirs when the time has arrived to go home. Better make the brain more quiet little than always thinking about home ... hehehe

New Days

Work on the ships finally began. Everything new. New friends, new colleagues, new places and new work atmosphere. I was surprised with the work situation ... "I really have to work like this?", "why work like this?", "wah .. wah .. I fooled with my position in this job ..", and many more questions successive present in the head. I want to stop working but under contract, can not go home too, was forced to cry stuck in the cabin every after work (sad times).... Try to guess how it feels if you work as Galley Utility.. work that according to most people is the toughest job on the Cruise ship ... Who ever or even while working on a cruise ship would agree with this opinion .. hehehe

During the first three months feels like forced labor. Everything felt heavy but it's not the first time away from parents and the people I love. Not to mention the still thoughts when breaking up with girlfriend before leaving (complete already suffering).... hehehe. But I have to move on ... this is not the end of my world ... I still have to PROVE to Them, the people whose under estimated me to success in this job .. keep fight for everything in your life .. . (trying to cheer myself .. hehehe ).....

The fourth month finally has begun to adjust to the situation on the ship, either with colleagues or the job itself. Sometimes to get a position or a better job, everyone justifies any means. That's what makes competition for increasingly heavy promotion. Yaaahh ... as Indonesian is not our custom to do everything so the boss will care with us. Not the same as colleagues from other countries. They are really lick, reported another co-worker, or any fraudulent act in the work. I'm not saying all of them are same. Once again I want to ask the same to other friends who also have or are working on cruise ships. That's the truth or not? Only all of you know that ... hehehehe

In the end, the realization that I came to work, too, who allowed me to survive there. Also, because I wanted to go around the world, promises to prove if I can do this work to people who have disappointed me, also wanted to prove the same people who had doubts if I can be successful working on cruise ships.
